Great Yarmouth Beach Classic 2006
26th - 27th August
Format
The Great Yarmouth Beach Classic is a new 'major' event on the VEBT. It is one of 3 majors along with Weymouth and Sandbanks so will have the top players in the country and on the tour on show. The Great Yarmouth Beach Classic like the other Majors’ will run over two days, with the top teams advancing through to Sunday’s finals.

The main attraction, running over the whole weekend is the pairs competition for the top teams on the tour. An FIVB double-elimination format is to be used in this competition. The finals on the Sunday should prove to be the main crowd puller. Just as with the other Major events on the tour, there will be a Division 2 Open Pairs Competition for those not wanting to play at the very top standard. This will still allow for a good level of competition, a bit more serious than the 4's a little less so than Division 1 Pairs.

On the Sunday, in addition to the main pairs competition a regional 4v4 competition will run for anyone who would like to play at a lower standard with a bit more emphasis on fun. There will be prizes for the winner of this competition too.

Also taking place on the Sunday, is a 'Come and Try' session for visitors to the beach who may not have tried volleyball before and have been impressed by the action they see on the Central Beach. This will be on a separate court with coaches taking sessions introducing volleyball to those who wish to try it.
